Polaris has just finished supporting this year’s Operational Research (OR) Conference, held just down the road at the University of Portsmouth. The Conference was one of the most successful – in terms of attendees and numbers of papers given– in recent years and included several well attended ‘Making an Impact’ events to show what OR can do for Government and industry. Polaris was pleased to sponsor and help organise this year’s Conference, as well as giving two papers and a series of poster sessions. One of the papers was on the use of ant colony optimisation for routing autonomous maritime vehicles (‘robot boats’), as part of Government funded work by Polaris and the University; and the other was the Keynote for the Defence Stream, on defence equipment inflation. It was certainly an intensive but stimulating three days!
As part of their work on the CDE Big Data and Autonomy Call, Polaris recently presented at the CDE Marketplace event, held in London. This high profile event was opened by Harriett Baldwin MP, the Minister for Defence Procurement.
