Polaris Consulting, part of the TP Group, are seeking to further develop their Maritime Autonomous Navigation System. Our work now seeks to enhance and extend the system for surface vessels, as well as moving it out of maritime and into other domains (land, air, subsurface).


We currently seek 2 programmers to join our small and expanding Technology & Innovation (T&I) team, primarily to deliver this project but also to work on other similar software focussed projects.


Polaris are a growing company who offer sensible flexibility in a friendly environment. The roles will be based in our Fareham office, with occasional travel to other sites in the UK, notably to Turnchapel Wharf in Plymouth for sea trials.


We are looking for flexible innovative thinkers who can influence our technical direction.


Required Skills:



  • Experience in C/C++

  • Skills in debugging and problem solving

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Systems Engineer - Defence Analyst - Bristol


Polaris seeks an experienced Defence Analyst to undertake systems engineering and operational analysis activities in key Ministry of Defence (MOD) programmes. You will have a background preferably in Space Systems and C4ISTAR engineering, with a sound understanding of scientific and mathematical techniques and the proven ability to develop technical solutions to business problems. Candidates will require expertise in some or all of the following skills:



  • Systems Engineering Lifecycle

  • European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) Standards

  • Defining, analysing and documenting requirements (incl. use of DOORS)

  • Analytical and modelling experience

  • Tools and techniques to develop concepts and architectural solutions including MODAF

  • Cost-benefit analysis

  • Technology and capability roadmapping

  • Support and advice to MOD decision makers

  • Stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation


Desirable candidates will have at least 5 years of relevant expertise to support its growing operations in the South West, with successful candidates based in the Company’s Bristol office.


Successful candidates will have the experience or aspirations to undertake demanding consultancy assignments, with the flexibility to work for a rapidly growing company.

Cost and Project Controls Consultants - Fareham & Bristol


Due to continued expansion in the UK Defence market, Polaris urgently seek highly motivated and experienced Cost and Project Controls Consultants for our Bristol and Fareham offices. We need Consultants with the following profile and skills:



  • Significant experience in Defence analysis in some or all of the following disciplines:

    • Cost analysis/ estimation (knowledge of gathering cost data, estimating, CAAS guidelines, CDALs, V&V, etc.)

    • MOD approvals (knowledge of IGBC, MGBC, JSP507, JSP655 etc.)

    • Portfolio, programme and project management (schedule and risk analysis, benefits realisation, evidence management etc.)

    • Operational Analysis (OA) to support Business Cases and/or MOD policy development (knowledge of spreadsheet modelling, technology road mapping, etc.)



  • Experience working with DE&S, ISS or Dstl preferable.

  • Must be good with people and able to interface directly with customers.

  • Have a positive, flexible and self-motivated attitude necessary for working in a small company.

  • British Nationals with current SC or DV clearance.
