Polaris wins the Morpheus (LE TacCIS System House) opportunity with PA consulting
Press release follows:
Future Proofing Front Line Communications
A contract to deliver future vital communication equipment used by troops has been secured by the MOD.
The System House contract is worth around £11M and has been awarded to the NEO consortium led by PA Consulting Group and its partners QinetiQ, Roke Manor Research, CGI, Polaris Consulting and SVGC.
Under the contract a team of experts, supported by military personnel and acquisition specialists, will engage with UK industry and seek to deliver innovative approaches for ‘best of breed’ design solutions to the next major evolution of capability for Tactical Communications and Information Systems (TacCIS).
This research will support the Battlefield and Tactical Communications and Information Systems (BATCIS) Delivery Team as part of the £3 Billion MORPHEUS which is looking to address obsolescence challenges in radio and communications equipment used by front line forces.
This evidence will support a Main Gate investment decision to determine whether UK Defence will seek to sustain, evolve or replace the current BOWMAN system. A Combined Operational Effectiveness and Investment Appraisal (COEIA) will be employed in order to assess the merits of each option and support the Main Gate decision.
Brigadier Richard Spencer, BATCIS Director said: “Awarding this contract means future proofing the vital communication kit used by our Armed Forces whether on deployed operations or here in the UK. We have a real opportunity here to look at current, near-horizon and emerging state-of-the art technology and to engage with industry partners to deliver the best kit possible for our troops. It is the question that drives us and we are excited to embark on the journey with NEO.”
“Andrew Creber of PA Consulting said “All the members of the NEO Team are excited about this opportunity to work with the MOD on this key programme. We are committed to being impartial, have exceptional complementary skills, and are determined to identify technical architectures and cost-effective commercial constructs which will facilitate the exploitation of innovative technologies throughout the life of the programme.”
The MORPHEUS Programme, which is currently in its assessment phase, is part of the wider Land Environment Tactical Communications and Information Systems (LE TacCIS) Capability Change Programme that will deliver improved tactical communications and information systems in the Land Environment.
